There are many great advantages that come with living in an apartment community such as Taluswood Apartments in Mountlake Terrace, WA but often people have the misconception that an apartment isn’t appropriate for pets. Taluswood Apartments are in fact pet friendly with a common sense approach to the understanding some dog breeds are more suitable for an apartment while others require a fenced in yard to be truly happy.

DOG BREEDS AND WHY THEY SUIT APARTMENT LIVING

Although you tend to think of smaller breeds as better for living in an apartment, the tiniest of dogs aren’t always the best. What’s more important is an intelligent dog who responds well to training and is well behaved both at home and while exercising on the leash. Quiet dogs are usually better as barking too much can potentially annoy the neighbors. A dog who likes to nap rather than getting easily excited is typically going to work out better for a pet in an apartment community. With these ideas in mind, there are a few well-known dog breeds exceptionally suitable for apartment life.

  • The Bulldog is friendly and known for appearing lazy because he remains calm and loves to spend the day resting.
  • The King Charles Spaniel is gentle and loving, making them exceptionally well behaved for apartment life. They need regular daily exercise accomplished with a leash walk, and they love to give and receive affection in the evening after their walk.
  • The Pug always remains calm much like the Bulldog, but can cause mischief if left alone for too long or if you don’t provide them with enough attention. Expect to give the Pug some of your daily free time and they’ll remain loyal and loving in exchange.
  • Although the Greyhound can seem like a highly energetic dog during exercise, they tend to remain calm and quiet while indoors. In addition to a daily walk, Greyhounds need extended exercise a couple of times each week but if you take care of them they’ll provide a lifetime of commitment to you.
