APARTMENT LIVING

You want to keep your apartment clean and tidy, but it’s best to stay away from less-than-ideal cleaners. There is no need to use chemical cleaners that could be toxic or cleaners that are expensive when you can use something that is probably already in your kitchen. Baking soda is a wonderful all-purpose cleaner with many uses at our apartments in Mountlake Terrace.

DRAIN CLEANER

Baking soda is a great cleaner for the drains of your kitchen and bathroom sinks as well as your tub and shower drains. Simply sprinkle some baking soda into the drain, and let it sit for several minutes or overnight. Pour a little vinegar in the drain for added benefit. Once the baking soda has had a chance to sit in the drain, run hot water into the drain to rinse the mixture away.

SINK AND TUB CLEANER

Baking soda can get your sinks, showers and tubs wonderfully clean. Simply moisten the surface you want to clean, and then sprinkle some baking soda onto the surface. Gently scour with a sponge, and then rinse with water. If the surface is especially dirty, let the baking soda sit for several minutes before scrubbing.

REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER

Your refrigerator and freezer can wind up getting some spilled food on them. That is easy enough to clean by sprinkling baking soda on the surface and then wiping it up with a damp paper towel. Make sure you first remove all food items from the dirty shelf or compartment before you start cleaning. Also, use a mixture of baking soda and warm water to clean the refrigerator’s crisper drawers.

COUNTERTOPS

The countertops in your kitchen and bathroom need to be wiped up and sanitized to keep them looking clean and fresh. A simple way to do this is to remove all items from the counters. Then moisten the area with a damp sponge or rag. Sprinkle baking soda on the surface you want to clean, and then wipe that up. If there is still some baking soda residue on the counter, wipe with another damp cloth to rinse.

There are many other great ways to use baking soda when cleaning your apartment. If you are looking for comfortable Mountlake Terrace apartments to call home, call our office today to see which floor plans are currently available.
